Role Purpose

As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in the daily lives of young people, helping them to feel safe, supported, and equipped with the skills needed for independence. You will act as a positive role model, safeguarding their welfare while encouraging their personal growth, education, health, and aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

Support Workers at Consistent Care Ltd are expected to deliver care and support in line with the four Quality Standards of the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023:

1. Leadership & Management Standard (Regulation 4)

  • Work as part of a professional team, following company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records (daily logs, incident reports, support plans).
  • Participate in supervision, training, and reflective practice to improve performance.

2. Protection Standard (Regulation 5)

  • Safeguard young people at all times, following safeguarding policies and reporting concerns immediately.
  • Conduct risk assessments and support young people in managing risks.
  • Recognise and respond to concerns such as CSE, CCE, bullying, or mental health issues.
  • Uphold professional boundaries and confidentiality.

3. Accommodation Standard (Regulation 6)

  • Ensure the living environment is safe, clean, and welcoming.
  • Carry out health and safety checks, fire drills, and follow maintenance reporting procedures.
  • Respect young people’s privacy, dignity, and cultural identity.

4. Support Standard (Regulation 7)

  • Deliver 1:1 support in line with individual Support Plans.
  • Encourage education, training, and employment participation.
  • Promote independence skills such as budgeting, cooking, and personal care.
  • Involve young people in decisions affecting their care and support.
  • Provide emotional support and help young people develop resilience and confidence.
  • Serve as a key-worker for the young people.
  • Conduct regular key-working sessions with the young people.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Experience of working with young people, preferably in residential or supported accommodation.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and professional boundaries.
  • Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork skills.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023.
  • Experience working with care leavers or looked-after children.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential but not necessary).
