Our 16+ Supported Accommodation services are designed to support care-experienced young people as they transition into independence and adulthood. We deliver person-centred, trauma-informed care that meets and exceeds the standards set out by the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023.
Job Summary
As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager and Responsible Individual to ensure the delivery of excellent support services to young people aged 16 and above. You will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the service, including supervising staff, supporting quality assurance, ensuring compliance with regulations, and acting as a role model of consistency, compassion, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in the overall leadership and management of the service.
- Ensure the service complies with the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023, local authority contracts, and internal quality standards.
- Lead by example in delivering trauma-informed, person-centred support that empowers young people to become independent and responsible adults.
- Assist in the recruitment, induction, supervision, and development of staff.
- Contribute to staff rotas, ensuring adequate cover and effective deployment.
- Undertake and oversee regular risk assessments, care planning, and progress reviews for each young person.
- Promote safeguarding and ensure that young people are protected from harm, abuse, exploitation, and neglect.
- Liaise with external professionals, including social workers, local authority representatives, education providers, and healthcare agencies.
- Support young people in their emotional, educational, and practical development.
- Maintain accurate records in line with data protection and confidentiality policies.
- Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent (Level 5 preferred or willingness to work towards it).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a care or supported accommodation setting.
- Understanding of the needs and experiences of care-experienced young people.
- Strong leadership and team-working skills.
- Effective communication, report writing, and record-keeping skills.
- Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and child protection procedures.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends when required.
- Enhanced DBS Check (required prior to start).
